This time of the year, Asparagus is a big deal in Germany, and we love to celebrate that it is in Season since it pairs so well with many German wines.
There is debate if it goes better with Riesling or Silvaner, but I personally prefer it with Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, especially from Baden.
Of course, the pairing suggestions also depend on the main protein, sides, and sauces that you serve with your asparagus but for almost all combinations the Baden Pinots are delightful companions.
One of the key events where we celebrate the Asparagus Season is the GACC White Asparagus Gala Dinner that we have supported over the years.
This year, while we are not pouring our wines at the event, we are giving away a bottle of Sekt, from the renowned Wein-und Sektgut Barth from the Rheingau as a gift to everyone attending the event.
We want to celebrate the great relationship that we have with the GACC and its members and want to drive more awareness to our Wunderwein Wine Club that we operate with our Retail Partner Grapeshot Wine & Spirits in Brooklyn.
As a reminder, our Club has no subscription fees or minimum orders. It is simply a platform where you can purchase all our wines and have them delivered directly to your door, if and when you are interested.

The week before the GACC event, on May 9th we are hosting a Wine Dinner at L’Escale in Greenwich, Connecticut which will also feature Asparagus and we hope you can join us for this event too. More details here.
Then the week after the GACC event, on May 22nd we are hosting a Wine and Asparagus Dinner at Schilling, and we will share more information about this event in due course as we are finalizing the menu and wine pairings with Eduard Frauneder, the acclaimed Michelin-starred Chef.
To round things up and to accomplish our dedication to celebrate Asparagus Season with one event each week in May, we are featuring the white gold at our exclusive ‘In Full Bloom’ event at Central Park Tower on May 29th. This will be a private event for the Residents to showcase our wines alongside a presentation of the Hugo Boss Spring Collection and jewelry and timepieces by Wempe.
